Before you install Restaurly
Prepare the account, desktop computer, and restaurant network now so installation and the first shift go smoothly.
Applies to: supported desktop platforms and restaurant administrator.
Before you begin
Have the restaurant PC, account, internet connection and local network ready. For paid access, have an active subscription and an available paid activation spot. For Free trial, select an available trial first; it requires no paid spot and its seven days start at PC activation.
Also prepare the company name, initial tables, first waiter/POS names and numeric PINs, and an Android phone or iPhone for the companion app. Free trial allows one table and three staff accounts in total.
Activation binds the license to this operating-system installation. Free trial recovery uses only the original installation and expiry. Before replacing or reinstalling a licensed PC, preserve its data and contact Support; there is no online active-PC list or self-service activation release.
Prepare the network
- Connect the PC to the restaurant network. A wired connection is a good choice for a PC that will stay in one place.
- Make sure phones can join the same local network.
- If the operating system asks whether Restaurly may communicate on the local network, allow it only for the trusted restaurant network.
- Ask the network administrator whether guest Wi-Fi isolates devices from each other. Isolated guest networks will prevent mobile discovery.
Do not disable the firewall or expose the Restaurly PC to the public internet. The goal is local communication inside the trusted restaurant network.
Protect an existing installation
If this PC already has Restaurly data, do not uninstall it, delete its data folders, or replace license files as a first step. Open the existing app and make a validated backup, or contact support if it cannot start.
What should happen
You should finish with one chosen PC, an account ready for paid or Free trial activation, and a local network connecting the PC and mobile devices.
