Move POS work through its statuses

Open a POS order card and select the status that reflects what actually happened at the station.

Applies to: mobile app and POS role.

A typical successful flow is Created → In progress → Ready to take → Completed. Use Rejected when the station cannot prepare the work. The app disables transitions that do not make sense from the current state, and completed or rejected work is terminal.

Status changes are shared with the waiter and PC. Avoid advancing work merely to clear the queue: Ready to take should mean the item is physically ready, and Completed should follow the restaurant's completed hand-off step.

If a status update reports an error, keep the card open, restore connectivity, and refresh before tapping again.
